Please know that I am of the mindset that God does NOT “curse” his children, but will allow the enemy “openings” or “access” to us if we knowingly and willingly commit repetitive acts of sin and disobedience. I particularly believe this is true if we have accepted Christ into our lives but willingly and knowingly continue to live in sin. The following verses represent biblical based curses:
- Idolatry (either making or worshiping an idol) (Ex. 20:5; Deut. 27:15)
- Incest with one’s sister, mother-in law, or father’s wife (Deut. 27:22-23)
- Adultery (Lev. 20:10; Num. 5:27; Deut. 22:22-27; Job 24:15-18) t.
- Cruelty to a handicapped person (Dem. 27:18)
- Oppressing the defenseless (Deut. 27:19)
- Fornication (Deut. 22:21-29)
- Dishonoring one’s parents (Deut. 27:16)
- Sexual relationship with any animal (Deut. 27:21)
- Defrauding one’s neighbor (Dent. 27:17
- Sexual intercourse during menstruation (Lev. 20:18)
- Marrying a woman and her mother (Lev. 20:14)
- Rape (Deut. 22:25)
- Children conceived out of wedlock (Deut. 23:2)
- Accursed objects in one’s possession
- Any occult practice—divination, sorcery, omens, witchcraft, consulting a medium, and consulting the dead (Lev. 20:6, 27; Deut. 18:9-13)
- Murder (Dent. 11:28: 27:24)
- Murder for hire, including those who are paid to perform abortions (Deut. 27:2
- Forsaking the Lord (Dent. 28:20)
- Not serving the Lord joyfully and gladly in the time of prosperity (Deut. 28:47)
- Not reverencing the name of the Lord God (Deut. 28:1-14, 58)
- Presumption in thought so that one disregards God’s Word and devises his own way (Deus. 29:19)
- Cursing or mistreating Abraham’s seed (Gen. 12:3; Num. 24:9)
- Refusing to help in the Lord’s warfare (Judg. 5:23; Jer. 48:10)
- Failure to give God the glory (Mal. 2:2)
- Robbing God of tithes and offerings (Hag. 1:6-9; Mal. 3:9) 27 Neglecting the work of the Lord (Jer. 48:10)
- Enticing others away from the Lord into a false religion (Deur. 13:6-9)
- Taking away or adding to the Word of God (Rev. 22:18-19)
- Teaching rebellion against the Lord (Jer. 28:16-17)
- Refusing to warn those who sin (Ezek.- 3:18-21)
- Defiling the Sabbath (Ex. 31:14; Num. 15:32-36)
- Perversion of the gospel of Christ (Gal. 1:8-9)
- Cursing one’s rulers (Ex. 22:28; 1 Kin. 2:8-9)
- Refusal to forgive others after asking God to forgive you (Matt. 18:34-35)
